Now You Can Get An iPhone Accessory To Kiss On

kissenger_banner1Being in a long-distance relationship can be hard, but technology has helped a lot. Now we can FaceTime, Skype and text our far away sweeties to keep the romance alive even when we’re far apart. But now there’s a new way to stay close to the one you love using your iPhone – you can buy an accessory that simulates kissing. Yep, that’s really a thing now.

The Kissenger is called the “World’s first mobile kiss messenger, and with it you can transmit a kissing sensation over the Internet. The Imagineering Lab at City University London explains that Kissenger can “sense your kiss and transmit realistic kissing sensations to your partner in real time.” And you’re supposed to be able to feel the force on your lips when your partner kisses you back. Romantic, right (or weird, but we’ll try to go with it)?

The app uses “high precision force sensors” that measure the pressure you use on your lips so the kiss your partner gets on their silicon ‘lips’ accessory is actually your smooch. And then you can feel your partner’s simulated kiss on your phone accessory too. It’s not just for your long-distance boo either – you can even use it to send Grandma a cross-country kiss on the cheek.

The silicon lips plug into the phone’s headphone jack, but the sensors only work on lips, so there’s no french kissing with it. And it seems like the kind of thing you’d only want to use in the privacy of your own home because it does look pretty strange, but it’s probably only a matter of time until people are using it for their public displays of affection everywhere.
